Imagine if you just received news that your two year old child has cancer-- could you go through it alone? could your child? For more than 600 families that stay at the Chattanooga Ronald McDonald House each year, they know they don't have to go through it alone.
Together we can give them strength. Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Greater Chattanooga was founded on the idea of strength in numbers. Families find strength from each other, from RMHC staff and volunteers. Thanks to you our generous donors, more families will find strength so their children can be strong enough to heal.
Meet David
At the age of two, David was diagnosed with Leukemia, he battled the illness and won. During his years of treatment, his mother, Janet Jorges, struggled to stay close by to the hospital while David received the critical care he needed. Janet wishes there had been a "home away from home" 39 years ago when her son was ill. Janet recalls spending the night in a hotel room and "the next morning when I came into David's room, he said to me - Mommy I called you and you didn't come." Janet says those words will forever haunt her. Thankfully, today there is a Ronald McDonald House right here in Chattanooga that makes it possible for families to stay close and visit their child when they call, even in the middle of the night.
David is now 39 years old with a family of his own. Janet Jorges has made it her mission to help other families who need comfort and care during a critical time in their lives. Janet is the Chairperson for the 2012 RMHC Share-A-Night Campaign. She knows first hand what a Ronald McDonald House means for families.
Your support is critical to the Share-A-Night Campaign. Won't you help us help families like David's fight illness together? We can't do it without YOU.
