“It is a lot easier knowing that you are so close to your child. The kindness and support of the volunteers (Ronald McDonald House), while taking a break from the hospital, was wonderful.”

Hearts of Gold

Every year since 1990, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga has been offering “Hearts of Gold” ornaments with a unique and special message. The “Heart of Gold” ornament is a 24-karat gold-plated piece crafted to resemble a particular event or person.  The ornaments are sold for a minimum of a $15 donation and come in a handsome red velveteen folder.

It may be sent as a memorial, honorarium or holiday gift to friends and family. Pictured above is the 2011 Heart of Gold ornament illustrates a gingerbread house-- an image that says "home sweet home" during the holiday season and portrays a season of giving.

Meet Hope and Cole Alsobrooks

Hope and Cole Alsobrooks got their first peek at the world during the April 27 tornado storms. They were born eight weeks early and had to remain at the neonatal intensive care unit to gain enough strength before they could go home.

Cyndi Alsobrooks and her husband of Ringgold, Georgia spent 21 nights at the Ronald McDonald House right across the street from the hospital while their twins received the medical care they needed.  Cyndi says she desperately wanted to be close to her babies and it meant so much to her family to have access to a “home away from home” during such a difficult time. The couple also has a 4 year old daughter, Faith.

Hearts of Gold ornaments are available mid-November until December 31. For more information, please contact Tiffany Cobb (423) 778-4338.
