RMHC provides sick children with what they need most… their families.

As of December 2022, there are 383 Ronald McDonald Houses in 45 countries and regions, and 268 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in 28 countries and regions.

550-600 families stay at the Ronald McDonald House every year.

Chattanooga is home to the 137th Ronald McDonald House® and 4th Ronald McDonald Family Room®.

Since the Chattanooga chapter opened on November 18, 1990, more than 10,000 families have stayed at the Ronald McDonald House.

It costs the 28-bedroom facility $150 to house each family every night. With 28 families to take care of, it costs a total of $4,200 per day.

Families stay an average of 15 nights.

In 2022, the majority of families who stayed at the Ronald McDonald House had children with premature and respiratory problems. Other reasons were children with birth defects, in accidents, cancer treatments and scheduled craniofacial surgeries.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization governed by a board of directors. However, McDonald’s corporation and its franchisees are critical partners, providing invaluable help in the form of financial support, marketing assistance, event sponsorship and significant involvement on all committees.

McDonald’s has been the RMHC Mission Partner since the first Ronald McDonald House was built in Philadelphia in 1974.
